At what point, is it ok to distribute morphine to a cancer tolerant?
There are lots of correct answers--when they need it, when they can't tolerate other medication, when they can't take any prescription by mouth anymore, when the other medicines stop working. Morphine also help with anxiety--when lung cancer patients are terminal and experience "nouns hunger" they become really anxious and morphine is really the only piece that helps. We usually liberate morphine IV via a drip for the very ultimate stages. However, lots of people near early cancer and even other medical conditions filch morphine by mouth. In a nutshell, it is really up to the doctor, the patient and the nearest and dearest.
Whenever the physician says it is ok.
From a physician point of prospect, if they have out of control pain from other medication.
when they ask 4 it
when he is in ample pain to warrent it. If it is terminal, next keep him contained by comfort. No one should die in extreem dull pain
When they ask for it.but realize it could be the last time they are coherent...for the remainder of their duration.
My mom was diagnosed near lung cancer on dec. 17, and died on the 31st of dec of the same year. They started giving her morphine on the 24th. They took the iv out of her arm on the 28th, and didn't supply her anymore...she was surrounded by a coma.
Whenever they ask for it. It's absurd to put some category of moral or legal restrictions on misery relief.
When the backache starts...
When they are not controlled on other pain medication. It is necessary to survey for signs of slowed breathing in the patients to manufacture sure they don't receive too much. Many cancer patients develop tolerance to standard doses and need increased amounts to save pain below control. If the patient is terminal, dispense enough morphine to maintain them comfortable despite risk of slowing the breathing.
