Death follows after give or take a few 105. Anything over 100 should probably be checked out.
Neonates: sustained temp of 106 for over an hour.
1-6 yr old: " " " 104--------------------
6 and over: Medicate at T> 102.
105 the grey cell in the Brain fry.
In a form care setting, we usually don't draw blood cultures or treat a restlessness until it reaches 101F. In a child, febrile seizure can happen at any warmth if it goes up too at a rate of knots or falls too rapidly - usually over 103F. Brain passing and seizures within adults usually happen at temperature greater than 106F. Hope this helps!
